Day 2- New Orleans, Louisiana

8 more hours of driving through Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and FINALLY Louisiana, we made it to NOLA!!! We stayed at the La Quinta on Camp Street, just on the edge of the French Quarter. What a nice pet friendly hotel in a great location! We walked to dinner at Acme Oyster House, just off Bourbon Street, and had some of the best oysters! Megan tried her first oyster... It was actually pretty tasty! We also tried the Crawfish Etoufee and Seafood Gumbo, complete with fried crawfish tails! We sat at the bar and made friends with the Oyster Shucker. What a painful job- a whole shift of nothing but shucking oysters!! Then it was off to the madness of Bourbon Street. Don and Megan got a hand rolled cigar at the cigar factory, and Sarah got a yummy frozen daiquiri (NO hand grenades here!). We also experienced some of the local Abita beer…mmmmmm…. We were pretty beat from the long haul, so we called it a quick night with a nightcap at the Russian bar. Saturday morning we took the dogs on a walk down to Café du Monde for beignets and café au laits for breakfast. Then off to Houston!
